Guest Reader

Today we had a very special guest reader come to our class. Shawn was a student of mine last year and he earned over 40 AR points (55 to be exact) and he chose our class to read a story to. I love seeing my former students doing so well in 2nd grade!! WAY TO GO SHAWN!!

100th Day Celebration!!

Yesterday was our 100th day of first grade! We celebrated all day and had a blast!

First, we came in dressed like we were 100. It was so funny to watch these mini grannies and grandpas walk around all day.

Then, we made 100th day crowns.

We counted to 100 using apple jacks that we made into necklaces

We brought in 100 things and shared with the class what we brought. Some brought, beans, pasta, paper clips, marbles, etc. They are very creative.

Here are the necklaces we made.

We had such a fun day that I went home and was in bed by 8! But they loved it so it was worth it!! :)

Landforms

This week we learned about landforms. We played matching games to learn about the different landforms, we did a few worksheets then we had FUN with it!! We made these cute books. We labeled our landforms then wrote a fact about each one on the back.

Today we had the most fun! We made these landform cookies. The green icing is the land, the blue sprinkles are water, the crushed graham crackers represent an island, the hershey kisses are mountains and the sixlets are the hills. After we made them we drew a picture of our cookie and wrote about how we made it. Then best of all we got to eat it!!

Help!! I am trapped in a snow globe!

Yesterday we wrote about what it would be like if we woke up trapped in a snow globe!! I love this writing! It is so much fun to hear the stories the kids come up with and they love getting to use an actual picture of themselves! They did great!!
