Field Day T-shirts

I made shirts for our class to wear to field day next week and it was so easy to do I had to share. I bought this fabric dye at Walmart and mixed it in spray bottles.
Then I printed the designs I wanted on card stock and cut them out and just laid them on the shirts and sprayed our school colors over them! So easy :)
Here is the finished product. I was in the shade so you can't see the red and black but I LOVED how they turned out.
Then the joy of a mobile unit...you have room to let them dry!! The kids are so excited and already asking when we get to wear them!

Baby Chicks

Our neighbor class has had chicken eggs that we have watched develop the past few weeks and finally we got to see harm hatch! She even let us play with the precious babies!
I even got in on the fun! It was so exciting to see these babies and you can even watch some of them hatch at allisonannfranklin on YouTube.

Cloud Craft

We read this book and talked about the different shapes we have seen clouds make.
Then we mixed shaving cream and glue to make fluffy paint and we created our own clouds.

Rain Day Learning

Today was such a rainy yucky day but lucky for us we were learning about rain! So that worked out very well. We started by showing how a thunderstorm is formed. We used blue ice cubes and red food coloring to show how cool air makes warm air rise.

Then we put water in a jar and added a cloud (shaving cream) and showed that when a cloud is full rain falls down. We added blue food coloring until it fell down.

And finally we made a tornado in a bottle. This is an all time favorite and the kids loved it! They want to go home and make one on their own!!

This weather unit is so much fun!! I can't wait until science time each day and neither can the kids! I love seeing them excited about learning!

Happy Birthday Janet
