Penny War
This is such a busy week with Johnny Appleseed, farm day AND Penny War!! Don't forget to send your change to help our class win! Pennies count 1 point each but silver money takes points away!! And so far it looks like someone has it out for us! Our bucket is full of silver and cash!! :)
This will go on until Friday. Also, don't forget that Friday is Farm Day. Check the weather and dress your child appropriately. Make sure they have on comfortable shoes and clothes they can get dirty in! We will be walking around outside with plenty of animals to see!! I can't wait and neither can the kiddos.

Johnny Appleseed
Ahhhh!!! My favorite time of the year...FALL! I just love everything about fall cool weather, football, and of course apples! This week we celebrate Johnny Appleseed's birthday by learning about him, making crafts and trying plenty of yummy apple treats. To start our week we read the story about the little house with no doors, no windows, and a star inside.
Then we made apple projects at home. The kids were told to be creative and make something, anything, from an apple. And they did a fabulous job!
For our last activity yesterday, we cut up an apple and placed a piece in 6 different cups. We added, water, honey, apple, juice, grape juice, orange juice and air to the cups to see which would keep the apples from turning brown.
We voted on which we thought would do the best and our decision was that the honey would work the best. We recorded our predictions in our science journals means checked back today to see what worked.
We found that orange juice did the best!
